Headline news

Interesting choice of headline news on Channel 7 tonight. Sure there is a major hurricane causing untold damage in the US, but why report that when locally we have our own weather problems? Yes, the headline news was the fact that a slightly more-wild-than-usual storm moved in over Adelaide in the last few hours. The damage? A few tress down, but, more seriously, a shed was blown over in Pt Lincoln.
Apparently this is sooo important, no-one has bothered to report it online (not even our local network), INCLUDING Seven's own website. I'm sure it will be put up as soon as further life and death scenarios arise, like, lets say a kitten gets half-drown in the sewer before the SAMFS managed to finally rescue it....
At least the hurricane did get second billing.

Living with the folks

Time to face facts. When you are 26yo and you are living with your parents, you can quickly fall into the 'loser' category (with a capital 'L' in some cases). Yes, I'm 26 and yes, i'm currently residing with my parents, but it's not what you think!
I moved out of home when I was 20 and that's the way it's been until I packed up and went to Europe for the good part of a year. My need to be back in Adelaide for a few months, coupled with the convenience of my folks spare room and central location, meant that I was back home. It's not all bad, I dont pay rent, I get fed and my parents are pretty laid back, so no really nosey questions about what i'm doing or where i'm going.
But whenever I get on my high horse after listening to friends who have ALWAYS lived at home complain about their parents, telling them they are waaay too old to still be at home, I now get:
Them: "oh yeah? and where are YOU living at the moment?"
Me: "........."

Moral of the story: There's always rent to pay somehow.....

The elite circles I move in...

Was going to do a whole post about being in Sydney but really, unless you are interested in what I ate each day over the week, there wasn't really much else that I did. Instead, I decided to post this photo I took of my lovely hosts.

The one on the right has been a close friend of mine for more years than I care to count, the other is a newer addition.
Feel free to guess which is the Phd student and which one is the electronics whizz-kid. Kids, you too could be an intellectual...
